Newlyweds: Communication is Vital!
The importance of listening skills, the ability to resolve conflict and stay engaged in conversation with your spouse can not be over stated. If you don’t already have them, learn good listening skills - which includes actively listening and being attentive when your spouse is talking, versus focusing on what you will say next. Active listening means being attentive to your spouse. Be on guard against developing unhealthy practices.

Newlyweds: Building a Shared Faith Life
Matthew 6: 33 challenges us to “Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and all these things will be added unto you.” As a couple this means keeping Christ at the center of your relationship. You do this by sharing time together in prayer, in scripture and devotional reading, and by having vulnerable conversation where you can freely express doubt and encourage each other. In addition, to shared practices, what a joy it is to connect your passion to opportunities to share in ministry!

Newlyweds: Keep Having Fun!
It is so important for you as a couple to create shared opportunities to de-stress from life, to continue to get to know your partner, and to plan shared outings to look forward to. Fun needs to be a cornerstone of your marriage. Take time to laugh and remember why you fell in love in the first place. As John 10:10 reminds us, Jesus came to give us abundantly life! He wants more for us than simply a mediocre life.
